Finance
Estranged students will be eligible for the Care Leavers and Estranged Students Bursary which is £3000 in first year, £2500 in subsequent years and £1000 after graduation. Estranged students are also a priority group for our student support fund if they need additional assistance.
Accommodation
We offer guaranteed 52 week accommodation. We also have a rent guarantor scheme and estranged students are a priority group for this. We provide kitchen and bedding packs for all students moving into campus accommodation.
Mental Health
We have a Dedicated Contact for Estranged Students who provides ongoing support throughout university and also advocates for students across the university. We have a counselling service and also a college team who provide wellbeing support. Additionally, we organise twice termly socials to offer peer support for our estranged students.
Outreach
Our dedicated contact offers specialist advice on student finance and can help with applying as an independent student. We offer tailored visits where we will cover transport costs. Additionally, we have a Student Buddying Scheme where new students will be matched with a current estranged student prior to their arrival.
