Finance

Introduction of a £1,000 bursary for each year of study and eligibility to apply for the University Hardship Fund. Individual support and advice from Money Advice and Guidance. Bespoke workshops for estranged students on a range of topics including money management and applying for funding.

Accommodation

365 days accommodation in university halls with support from Residential Advisers. Deposit payment deferral option until receipt of student funding. Work with private sector accommodation providers to develop stronger links and encourage flexibility regarding the need for guarantors.

Mental Health

Support available through drop-in sessions, one-to-one counselling or support sessions, themed workshops and groups. Work with the Guild of Students to set up a peer support group and/or organise events and social meet-ups.

Outreach

Contact for prospective students in the Widening Participation team. Targeting of young people aged 16-25 by contacting schools, colleges, local housing associations and local authorities and encouraging staff to refer those to our service who are in danger of becoming estranged.
