UNIVERSITY OF ESSEX

Finance

From 2020/21 you will be able to apply for a bursary of up to a maximum of £1,000 per academic year. You’ll be given priority for our hardship fund and can apply for assistance with Accommodation, general living costs, childcare costs, and/or digital equipment costs. Specialist advisers are available who can answer your finance questions. Contact our Student Services Hub and SU Advice Centre for advice about money.

Accommodation

You can apply for our on-campus accommodation with a 39-week or 50-week contract from the start of your studies and will be given priority in returning years. You can apply to stay for the additional two weeks if required. Our Residence Life service is available to help support residents both on and off campus to provide a listening ear, and signpost you to appropriate support.

Mental Health

You’ll have access to a range of specialist wellbeing and mental health support from our Student Wellbeing & Inclusivity Service. Residence Life and Nightline services are available outside office hours.

Outreach

You’ll have a named contact adviser from our Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity service to help you access support and answer any questions about this. We provide online guidance about living and learning support at Essex and work closely with the University of Essex Students' Union to understand students' needs and feedback. They have joined us in signing the Stand Alone Pledge.
