UNIVERSITY OF BRIGHTON

Finance

We pledge to offer a Bursary of £1000 each year of study to all new students starting a course in September 2018 who are estranged. We will tailor our budgeting skills and income maximisation advice to students who are studying without family support. Current students will continue to be supported through the university hardship fund scheme.

Accommodation

We are working towards ensuring estranged students are guaranteed accommodation in their first year and help with deposit and guarantor schemes for continuing years.

Mental Health

We can secure a place at our wellbeing workshops for all estranged students. By contacting students pre-entry we can tailor an individual support package for the duration of the academic year.

Outreach

Our Widening Participation team understand the needs of Estranged students and can signpost to our named contact through early intervention. We will also offer employability skills and Student Ambassador vacancy opportunities to our Estranged students seeking part time employment on course.
