ROYAL VETERINARY COLLEGE

Finance

Estranged students are eligible for our Summer Bursary to support them financially during the summer months. In addition, if assessed by Student Finance as independent, they will also be eligible for the RVC Bursary of £1,000 per year. Estranged students can apply to our Hardship Funds if experiencing financial difficulty and will be assessed under the Priority Group criteria to enable access to a higher grant.

Accommodation

The RVC offer year-round accommodation to Estranged students and priority access to the accommodation of their choice when applying by the accommodation deadline. They can also continue to stay at RVC accommodation for the duration of their course. If looking for private rented accommodation, students can access advice and legal support from the University of London Housing Service.

Mental Health & Wellbeing

Estranged students can access ongoing support, advice and guidance with all areas of university life outside of academic studies, from our dedicated Student Wellbeing Adviser. In addition to our onsite confidential counselling service, we also offer more specialist support with our Mental Health Adviser.

Outreach

The RVC offers a named contact within our Widening Participation team for Estranged students alongside a Widening Participation programme of events including working with local schools and councils, summer schools, Open House events and Open Days. Specialist advice and guidance is available to students before they start their studies via the RVC Advice Centre to help when applying for funding from Student Finance.
